Support earthen materials in the residential code! This terrific team is working on hard on bringing cob (a type of earthen construction) into the International Residential Code (IRC), which will greatly increase access to this sustainable building technology. NFW's Jacob Racusin took part in similar initiatives to bring straw bale and straw-clay technology into the IRC in the past few years, and now it is cob's turn!
This process is expensive, requiring many hours of lab testing, design, and effort navigating the code submittal process. There is no trade group, no industry support, no multi-national corporation funding this effort. That's why we need your help.
