Building Improvement For a Healthier Planet

Embrace climate positivity through our range of home and building improvement services and DIY support.

YOUR SPACE: RESILIENT AND HIGH PERFORMANCE

Spaces with Positive Climate Impact

We prioritize upgrades with strong social and ecological benefits to transform buildings into spaces you can be proud of for generations. Our comprehensive retrofits improve resilience while caring for people and the planet, empowering property owners.

UPGRADES THAT MAKE A POSITIVE IMPACT

Why Enclosure Improvements Matter

Greenhouse gas emissions from our buildings directly contribute to increased global temperatures and climate change. Weatherization plays a pivotal role in reducing the emissions of a building, and is the foundation of our healthier spaces initiative.

By upgrading your structure through weatherization, we can increase your building’s energy efficiency by reducing heat loss, air leakage, and temperature fluctuations. This makes the air healthier to breathe, your space more comfortable, and reduces your energy bills.

If you’re inspired by decarbonization, you’ll love our systems to move your building off of fossil fuels and towards electrification.

HOLISTIC IMPACT: SPACES THAT HEAL

Air Quality = Healthier Spaces

Our projects prioritize long-term building durability and the health of those living in and working on buildings. Our team has training and certifications from the Building Performance Institute including Building Analyst, Envelope Professional, and Healthy Home Evaluator and we’ve literally written a book on building science.

We specialize in crafting and implementing innovative air systems, ranging from exhaust-only spot ventilation (such as range hoods and bath fans) to direct air supply for combustion appliances, make-up air systems, and comprehensive whole-structure balanced ventilation solutions like ERVs and HRVs. Mandated in every new residential and commercial construction project in Vermont, these systems are a testament to their proven ability to elevate air quality standards.

Your Journey to a Healthier Home

From Whole House Weatherization to DIY Support, We Are Here to Help

SYSTEMS THAT CREATE CLIMATE PERFORMANCE & HEALTH

Whole House Weatherization & Mechanical Systems

We have found that analyzing a building as a system and developing a comprehensive whole house approach to improving the performance is the best way to achieve real, long-lasting results. This often includes significant basement and attic air sealing and insulation, some exterior wall improvements, ventilation, and sometimes heating/cooling system improvements.

  • Addressing areas of a building in isolation (without a comprehensive whole house plan) rarely has the desired outcomes and can lead to unintended consequences resulting in moisture and poor durability as well as indoor air quality and heat loss issues. We tackle each home improvement project as a whole, ensuring the building is healthier and more efficient.

  • The weatherization and performance projects we are taking on are generally in the $50k-$200k range. If this sounds like the type of collaboration you’re looking for, please let us know and we’ll send along some questions to start getting a better understanding of your project.

  • Our collaboration officially begins with a Project Development agreement, including an audit. We work with the client to develop scope, any needed design work, and estimating the cost of these renovations. Coming out of our initial contract, we will have everything set up to move into the renovation phase.

SMART SOLUTIONS FOR WHOLE-BUILDING COMFORT

Versatile Climate Solutions for Diverse Buildings

We approach these projects much in the same way as our Whole House Weatherization and Mechanical Systems work. The price range varies considerably depending on the size and scope of the project and often the Project Development process is much more complex. Please connect with us if you want to discuss your project further.

BETTER AIR QUALITY FOR HEALTHIER LIVING AND WORKING

Optimized Ventilation Solutions

If you are a homeowner, own a commercial building, or represent a municipality that needs a high-performance ventilation system customized for your space, please let us know. We hold the whole process from start to finish, including unit and controls selection, ducting layout design, system installation, balancing, and commissioning.

COMMUNITY WELL-BEING STARTS AT HOME

  • We strategically divide the project, empowering homeowners with DIY-friendly tasks, while expertly handling the rest for a seamless, efficient outcome.

    • Comprehensive Support Package Includes:

    • Detailed audit report with recommendations

    • In-depth consultation to differentiate DIY and professional tasks, outlining initial scope
